PURPLE COW PAINTING IN CHARLOTTE
Purple Cow Painting is a locally owned residential painting company serving Charlotte and the surrounding metro, specializing in interior repaints, exterior work, and cabinet refinishing. We're an independent, owner-run crew — not a franchise running a Charlotte branch from somewhere else.
Donovan Oliveri started Purple Cow right here in Charlotte, and the crew knows the difference between a Plaza Midwood bungalow and a Ballantyne new-build before the ladder comes off the truck. We work the neighborhoods we live in, show up when we say we will, and treat your home like it's ours. With a 5.0-star rating across 75+ Google reviews and full licensing in NC and SC, you're hiring neighbors, not a call center.
PAINTING ACROSS CHARLOTTE'S NEIGHBORHOODS
From historic bungalows to brand-new builds, our crew brings professional precision to every corner of the Queen City.
SOUTH CHARLOTTE
South Charlotte is where a lot of our work happens — the established neighborhoods and newer subdivisions around Ballantyne, SouthPark, Myers Park, and out toward Steele Creek and Pineville. You've got everything here from brick colonials with detailed trim to recently built homes in HOA communities, and the two call for different approaches. We're comfortable matching an existing palette on an older home, and we know how to keep a newer subdivision's exterior within the colors an HOA will actually approve. Whether it's a full interior repaint or freshening up the outside, we bring the same careful prep and clean lines to every street in the area.
IN-TOWN CHARLOTTE
Closer to the center of the city, the homes have more age and more character. We paint the older bungalows and craftsman houses of Dilworth, Plaza Midwood, and NoDa, plus the condos and townhomes around Uptown. These homes reward patience — careful surface prep, clean cutting around original trim and built-ins, and color choices that fit the home instead of fighting it. For a quality interior or exterior repaint that respects how these older homes are built, we're right at home in-town.
Also serving Tega Cay, Pineville, Matthews, Indian Trail, and surrounding communities.
A STEELE CREEK EXTERIOR REVAMP
THE PROJECT
When Jerry reached out, he wanted one thing above all: an exterior finish that would actually last. His home in The Palisades neighborhood of Steele Creek needed more than a fresh coat — it needed a finish built to hold up to Carolina sun and weather for the long haul.
We started with thorough prep, because that's what makes an exterior job last: pressure washing and degreasing the whole exterior, patching holes, caulking cracks, and sanding down every rough area before any paint went on. From there we sprayed the garage, shutters, trim, gutters, fascia, windows, doors, and the front stair rails for a clean, even finish throughout. For color, we paired Web Gray on the gutters, fascia, windows, and doors with Tricorn Black on the garage door, shutters, stair rails, and front door — a crisp, classic contrast. We used Sherwin-Williams Emerald Rain Refresh, a paint formulated so dirt rinses away in the rain, keeping the house looking clean longer while standing up to UV and weather.
Jerry was after a long-lasting finish — and loved how it turned out.

Charlotte Painting Questions
What Charlotte homeowners ask us most.
How much does it cost to paint a house in Charlotte?
Cost depends on the size of the home, how much prep is needed, ceiling height, and the finish you choose — an older Dilworth bungalow and a new Ballantyne build aren't the same job. Rather than quote a vague ballpark, we give every Charlotte homeowner a clear, itemized estimate after a free walkthrough, so the number you see is the number you pay.
Do you paint both older homes and newer builds?
Yes — Charlotte's housing runs from 1920s bungalows to brand-new construction, and we work across all of it. Older homes need patient prep and clean cutting around original trim; newer builds often need an upgrade from flat builder-grade paint. We tailor the approach to the house instead of treating every job the same.
Which Charlotte neighborhoods do you serve?
We paint across the city — from South Charlotte neighborhoods like Ballantyne, SouthPark, and Myers Park to in-town areas like Dilworth, Plaza Midwood, and NoDa, plus Steele Creek, Pineville, and out toward the surrounding towns. If you're in the Charlotte metro and not sure whether we reach you, just ask.
Are you a local Charlotte company or a franchise?
We're a locally owned, independent crew — not a franchise running a Charlotte branch from somewhere else. We live and work in these neighborhoods, which is why we know the difference between a Plaza Midwood bungalow and a Ballantyne new-build before the ladder comes off the truck.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Purple Cow Painting is fully licensed and insured in both North Carolina and South Carolina (License #01132192), so your Charlotte home is covered from the first day to the final walkthrough. We carry general liability and workers' comp insurance, which protects both your property and our crew on every job.
